Tis the Christmas season and time to get out of the house to find that perfect present for that someone special. Here in Red Deer, we have many wonderful local shops that come to mind, like Sunworks Living, Housewarmings, or maybe the Country Cupboard in our downtown. There are the Holiday Markets, and yes, even the pop-ups that appear once the Christmas season begins. Many choices; however, there are some other unique locations that you might not have thought about or never knew they carried giftware. Here is a list that you might want to check out as you get into the spirit of giving.

Here are eight places you might want to try.

Red Deer Museum and Art Gallery did you know they also have a MAGnificent Gifts kiosk where you can find all sorts of local art to many beautiful items handcrafted by Indigenous Artisans from across Alberta and Saskatchewan.

Danish Canadian Museum is another beautiful place to do your Christmas shopping; you need to book a time or come out every Friday and Saturday evening from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm till December 12. They will be having the Jule nights with beautiful Christmas lit trails, roaring fire, hot beverage, snack, and yes, time to pop into their gift shop for some local handmade arts and crafts, Danish Treats, kitchenware, and so much more.

Parkland Garden Centre is not just a place for plants; they have various beautiful giftware, books and Christmas decorations. Watch for their ice sculptures sometime in the middle of December, this year they will be celebrating 30 years.

Kerry Wood Nature Centre is not only an interpretive center, but they also have a nature store with products from over 30 local artists and businesses.

Norwegian Laft Hus Museum has a delightful shop, or as they call it, Butikk offering a wide range of items from t-shirts, Christmas decorations, local handmade items and more. You can view their products on the Museum shop page and email to place your order.

Bo’s Bar and Stage is not only a great restaurant and bar but has now introducing  Provisions Boxes, with everything from a Home Bar Kit to Spice Rubs, sauces, dips and much more; they make fabulous Christmas Gifts.

The Velvet Olive Lounge is another place where you can order online everything from Cocktail Kits to Spreads & Dips, and yes, they deliver.

For that beer connoisseur, the Troubled Monk with their wide variety of craft beer and various Tasters packs. They also have an incredible selection of spirits, liqueurs, and craft sodas.
